Who knew that what started out as a craft project with my daughter would eventually turn into a fun interactive teaching resource for parents & teachers alike? Fat Cat had his humble origins in a simple refrigerator magnet. My daughter and I were looking at ideas for homemade Christmas presents for her friends when we stumbled across a DIY article on how to make bubble magnets. We decided to make alphabet magnets for the refrigerator and suddenly an idea took hold that just wouldn’t shake loose. I put together a plan and met with a family friend who has been a longtime educator of elementary age children. She loved the idea and spent a considerable amount of her time providing structure, guidance and technical expertise. Two years later Fat Cat Math & Phonics hit the scene.
Our company recognizes that children love to move and they love to learn and we could not think of a better way to blend the two than with colorful chunky manipulatives and hundreds of bright engaging worksheets.
The old saying that it takes a village to raise a child must apply to children’s learning tools as well. I could never have attained my goal of bringing Fat Cat to market without the generous assistance of almost every family member and friend I have. This stay at home mom turned entrepreneur is so excited to bring hands-on learning to the children in your home and/or classroom “inside the box”.
